It is constantly said that smoking is deadly for human health. The statistics in this matter are ruthless and leave no doubt. Thousands of people die from smoking around the world every year. It is very important to spread knowledge about the consequences of long-term smoking. This is the only way you can really warn people against this addiction and show what you can lead your own body to. The way a smoker’s lungs look should be reason enough to quit smoking.

Smoking cigarettes – the most common consequences

Regular cigarette smoking causes many diseases. Some of them are very “characteristic” of this addiction and are usually associated with it. Most people equate smoking with cancer. And it is right. The smoker’s lungs must consume large doses of pollutants and carcinogens every day. However, cancer and lung disease (including COPD) are not the only risks of smoking.

Tobacco smoke contains a number of substances that also have a devastating effect on our circulatory system. Just one cigarette you smoke raises blood pressure and raises your heart rate, greatly increasing your risk of heart attack or stroke.

Cigarettes contribute to the development of many stomach diseases. From simple heartburn, ulcers and digestive problems to digestive cancers.

Smoker’s lungs are a frightening sight

Most likely, few people fully understand what a smoker’s lungs look like. This sight, although frightening, should nevertheless be known to everyone who smokes or is about to try.

After a year of regular smoking, the smoker’s lungs no longer look like a healthy organ. They turn completely black – this is the effect of tar in cigarette smoke. It is estimated that this smoke contains about 4,000 different substances that are very bad for our health; the lungs are among the first organs to be “bombarded” by them. Pictures of the lungs and lungs of a healthy smoker leave no doubt that the latter are not functioning normally. Even, they become saggy and lose their typical hardness for a healthy organ.

Lung disease in smokers

A frightening look, of course, is not all that should worry us about a smoker’s lungs. Regular smoking completely disrupts their functioning and causes a number of diseases dangerous to health. The already mentioned types of cancer are among the most dangerous.
Lung cancer is a disease that kills thousands of people around the world every year. Unfortunately, unlike many other types of cancer, in this case, we are practically the only ones to blame. It is estimated that about 90% of lung cancers are caused by smoking. If only this addiction were eliminated, one of the most dangerous types of cancer in the world could almost disappear!

Another serious illness is emphysema. This can cause irreversible destruction of this organ and, as a result, even death. It doesn’t have to be related to smoking, but very often this addiction is the cause. During illness, the air sacs in the lungs begin to grow abnormally and rupture as a result. Impaired blood circulation in the lungs puts excessive stress on the heart, which can lead to heart failure.

Images of a smoker’s lungs also show that no specific disease is required for this organ to function properly. After all, it is difficult to expect proper functioning from lungs, which look like saggy black bags filled with tar and ash. The tar in the smoke builds up in the lungs, forming sticky mucus. The smoker’s breathing becomes shallow, physical fitness is noticeably reduced; such a person gets tired much faster than a non-smoker. All this is the result of what the smoker’s lungs have become after a year of smoking.

How to keep the lungs?

Smoking cigarettes causes a lot of damage to our body. Therefore, many people wonder if a smoker’s lungs are recovering and if there is any benefit to them from quitting smoking. The answer is clear – absolutely. We can restore even a badly damaged organ to good condition if we know how to cleanse the lungs of a smoker.

A necessary condition is, of course, to quit smoking forever. As long as someone smokes at least one cigarette a day, their lungs will not be completely healthy. After giving up cigarettes, it is worth taking care of proper nutrition. It is necessary to drink a lot of still water, which will help to gradually remove toxins from the body. Sports and breathing exercises are also important, but after a long period of smoking, intense exercise should not be started immediately. It is better to return to it gradually in order to restore the normal working capacity of the body.

It is estimated that it takes a smoker about 10 years to fully recover and completely clear their lungs. Seems like a long time, right? Well, that’s good motivation to start working on it now.
