Dry hair is a problem that can be dealt with. We advise you on how to moisturize your hair and what daily care for dry hair should be.

Dry hair

Hair can quickly become dry if you bleach or dye it too often. Additionally, treatments such as straightening, curling, or even blow-drying hair can have a negative impact on the hair if we don’t take proper care of it.

Hair that is not protected from heat loses water faster and, as a result, becomes dry. All this means that moisturizing your hair should be a regular part of your hair care routine.

Dry hair – what to do?

First, limit any procedures that negatively affect the condition of your hair. If you dye or lighten your hair, use the gentlest products possible, and it is best to entrust the strands to a hairdresser. Limit the use of straighteners or curlers – frequent use of these devices, even if they are the latest generation products, dries out your hair.

If you have to style your hair in high temperatures, always use a special product to protect your hair from the heat.

When using a hair dryer, never set it to the highest setting, and if you can, limit drying to a minimum and try to let your hair dry naturally.

How to moisturize dry hair

To moisturize dry, damaged hair, you need to close the cuticles. The easiest way is to rinse them in cold water after each wash. You can also use water with vinegar, such as apple cider vinegar.

It is also important to use appropriate cosmetics – there should be a conditioner for dry hair on the shelf. Ingredients that should be included in this type of preparation include: flaxseed, shea butter, argan or almond oil.

However, avoid cosmetics containing strong silicones – instead, choose water-soluble ones (including dimethicone copolyol, lauryl methicone copolyol, hydroxypropyl polysiloxane) or products without silicones.

After washing, you can apply a special oil to your hair, but do it carefully so as not to weigh down the strands.

Home Remedies for Dry Hair

Moisturizing your hair with home remedies is an effective and inexpensive way to take care of your hair.

An excellent mask for dry hair is prepared from one banana, half a ripe avocado, four tablespoons of natural yogurt (no sugar!) and a teaspoon of honey.

The ingredients should be mixed into a paste and then applied to hair washed with dry hair shampoo. After 30–40 minutes, rinse off the mask with warm water.

Grandmother’s mask – a solution for dry hair

An egg yolk and lemon mask for dry hair is a method that our grandmothers praised. Simply mix one egg yolk with the juice of half a lemon.

If desired, you can also add a few drops of castor oil. The resulting mixture should be applied to the hair about half an hour before washing, and then rinsed with warm water.

Dry dandruff

People with dry hair may experience dry dandruff. If this happens, let’s make sure that our daily menu contains foods rich in vitamins B, A and E. Wash your hair three times a week with a shampoo with an antifungal component, such as zinc pyrithione, piroctone olamine or ketoconazole.

A substance called ciclopiroxolamine also helps fight dandruff. You can also use natural tar shampoo. On other days, use gentle preparations for everyday use. If changing your diet and using appropriate cosmetics do not help, consult a dermatologist.

An effective method of getting rid of dandruff is shampoo, which eliminates both its causes and symptoms. A product containing ciclopiroxolamine is a good choice – it has fungicidal properties and also has strong anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties.
