Very painful periods are a problem for many girls – whoever experiences them does not know what it is. Sometimes the pain is so intense that it completely prevents you from functioning properly, let alone enjoying life. What if you have such unpleasant periods? What are some ways to relieve pain?

Pain during menstruation: Use sanitary napkins instead of tampons.

For many girls, menstrual pain is exacerbated when a “foreign body” enters the vagina. We are talking, of course, about tampons. While they are very comfortable, in many cases they make the pain worse. So – at least in the beginning and when you are most affected, use large absorbent pads.

Pain during menstruation: Electric pillow.

The electric pillow heats up very quickly and keeps you warm for you (it doesn’t get too hot or lose temperature). If possible, buy such a gadget. Parents should see how you suffer – maybe they will give you such a gift?

Pain during menstruation: Hot water bottle or hot water bottle.

If you don’t have an electric pillow and can’t buy one, try our grandmothers’ method – use a heating pad or just a bottle of hot water. If you go overboard and add too hot water, wrap a towel around the bottle as well.

Find good medicines.

“Good”, that is, those that are a combination of several active substances, such as paracetamol and ibuprofen. Ask the pharmacy for such products.

Remember that you can combine different active ingredients, but not too many of the same. Overdosing with paracetamol, for example, is very dangerous, so be careful not to take too much of it. A warning! The name itself is not enough to distinguish between substances, you need to read the ingredients on the package!

For medications to be most effective, reach for them when the pain is just beginning — don’t wait to curl up in bed!

Use warming patches.

You can buy them at any pharmacy, they work great. You can also buy a patch with pain relievers, but skip it – it works on a superficial level rather than a deep one.

Limit your activity.

Physical activity is of course important, but definitely not recommended during painful periods. Walking, running, or even swimming a lot will exacerbate your suffering. A much better idea is to sew yourself at home with a good book and a cup of hot chocolate. Don’t let trickery go crazy these days, you need rest.

Don’t eat anything that blows.

If you get gas during your menstrual cycle from eating heavy foods, your pain will increase significantly. Therefore, avoid anything that can cause this effect. These are not peas, cabbage, apples – choose everything.

Pain during menstruation: Drink herbs.

Herbal infusions are the method of our grandmothers. They may not 100% eliminate your pain, but according to experts, they can reduce it a little. Make yourself infusions of valerian, mint, lemon balm, calendula, chamomile, rosemary or raspberry. Drink them 2–3 days before your period.

Take hot baths.

Of course, not during the period itself – it is definitely unhygienic. However, if you belong to the group of girls who have menstrual pain two days before their period, jump into a tub of warm water. This will relax you and reduce current pain.

Avoid coffee, strong tea, cola.

Anything that contains caffeine – unnecessarily stimulates the body and increases menstrual pain. In addition, cola can cause gassing.

Yes, you read that right. Orgasm triggers the release of happiness hormones and has a calming effect on the uterus itself. For many girls, this is the best pain reliever in the world.

Pain during menstruation: See your doctor.

If, despite taking painkillers and following the other rules mentioned, the pain is unbearable – do not torture yourself anymore. See your doctor, who is likely to prescribe hormone pills for you. They are commonly used as contraception, but they also almost completely reduce menstrual pain – which is why they are prescribed to young girls all over the world.
