Home lice remedies are as effective as chemical repellents for these parasites. However, this is not their only advantage, because natural substances are completely safe and do not cause any side effects. What smell don’t lice like? We answer this question below.

How to get rid of lice in adults?

Home lice remedies are natural methods of controlling parasites, which are mainly associated with our childhood. Nothing could have been more wrong. The lice problem can affect anyone, regardless of age.

You can easily buy different types of lice shampoos and other chemical products from pharmacies. The fact is that some of them can irritate the delicate scalp, weaken hair and cause allergies. Children are most vulnerable to any side effects. Instead of aggressive drugs, it is better to use home lice remedies.

  1. Apple cider vinegar is very effective in the fight against lice. Natural acid dries nits and kills live insects. However, it should be remembered that vinegar can be irritating. For safety, it is worth mixing it with water in a ratio of 1:1. Apply the cooked lotion to your hair and scalp.
  2. In order to get rid of an unpleasant problem, you should literally strangle your lice. This action is exhibited by all types of fats that block oxygen access to adult parasites and prevent the development of nits. Olive oil works very well. It is enough to slightly heat a small amount of oil, and then rub it into the skin and hair. In addition, you should put a bathing cap on your head. After a few hours, comb your hair thoroughly and wash it with a soft shampoo.
  3. Mayonnaise will do the same. It is enough to cover them with the entire length of skin and hair, then put on a foil hat. Without oxygen access, lice will not survive.
  4. Another home remedy for lice is eucalyptus. The strong aroma of this plant deters lice, but be careful – it does not kill nits! Therefore, we recommend this method as a supportive measure. To make the infusion, simply crush a few eucalyptus leaves and pour hot (but not boiling water) over them.

Home remedies for lice in children

Each of the above methods can be used in a situation where children have lice. However, you can expect that the method with oil or mayonnaise will meet with opposition from the youngest. Children, most likely, will not like the pungent smell of apple cider vinegar. However, you can replace it with lemon juice, which effectively dissolves the sticky substance that “attaches” the not to your hair.

The supporter should use essential oils. Their strong smell will scare off adult parasites. Lavender or tea tree oil is best, but be careful – don’t apply them to your head undiluted. Add a few drops of the soft shampoo or olive oil. The treatment should be repeated for at least 7 days.
