Ginger has been used in Chinese medicine for millennia. It alleviates stomach problems such as nausea, morning sickness, and indigestion. According to the researchers, ginger can also be used to treat colds, flu, headaches, and painful symptoms.

Ginger Syrup – A Step-by-Step Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup dried ginger and 1 cup the freshest ginger (peeled and chopped)
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1 cup honey
  • 1 cinnamon stick (optional)

Pour water into the pan, add ginger and cinnamon. Boil.

Reduce combustion and simmer until fluid volume is halved. This should take about 45 minutes.
Strain the infusion to remove the ginger. By the way, this will allow the liquid to cool to room temperature. After cooling, mix with honey.

Pour ginger syrup into a jar and store in the refrigerator. Syrup should not be stored for several weeks or even several months. If you are concerned that you will not be able to use all the syrup during the period, you can use only half of the ingredients or freeze some of them for later.

Note: Since this recipe contains honey, it should not be used for children under one-year-old.
